The Har-yarada Cuur Excavation Project is Facing a Challenging but Encouraging Phase
Although the planned workforce withdrew due to personal reasons, the progress of the project has not halted.
Oday Caalim Faatax Maxamuud, one of the community elders, courageously stepped forward and has been digging the dam alone since April 13, 2025, up to the present day.
The above image shows the steady progress of the work — Oday Caalim has carefully dug, having completed the initial layers and prepared for the deeper excavation of the dam.
Although the work is difficult, the effort shown by Oday Caalim is a testament to the perseverance, skill, and positive spirit of the Cuur community.
Current Project Status:
- The initial layers of excavation have been completed.
- The sides of the dam have been reinforced well.
- Excavation of the dam’s depth is ongoing.
Challenges Faced:
- Slow progress due to lack of manpower.
- Harsh weather conditions, which make solo work difficult.
Next Steps:
- To recruit additional workers or organize further support.
- To complete the excavation up to the planned 2-meter depth.
- To prepare the water retention bags and reinforce the dam.
